Since commodity prices and distillers grain prices are falling at a faster rate than alfalfa and forage prices, beef producers may be able to lower winter ration costs by replacing hay with corn and corn co-products.
December corn was 2 cents lower, January soybeans 1/4 cent lower, and December Chicago wheat 5 cents lower.
Live and feeder contracts should open this morning on a mixed 21.74-plus in basis as traders cautiously position ahead of late week cash and the release of the on feed report. Lean hog futures are also likely to start biz with uneven price action thanks to further profit taking and bear spreading.
